Description

Roman coins begin with the first old coins when Rome was ruled by its senate from 508-27 B.C.  The original coins were cast bronze coins.  Before long hand struck coins of various metals including Gold, Silver, and Copper were created.

These coins included the Gold Aureus, Silver Denarius, bronze Sestertius, bronze Dupondius, and copper which normally depicted mythological figures.

Julius Caesar financed his overtaking of Rome by striking Silver Denarii.  This hand struck silver Denarii was produced between 154-41 B.C.
