Kyanite is a typically blue aluminosilicate mineral, found in aluminum-rich metamorphic pegmatites and sedimentary rock. It is the high pressure polymorph of andalusite and sillimanite, and the presence of kyanite in metamorphic rocks generally indicates metamorphism deep in the Earth’s crust.
