Carpopenaeus (approx 70 myo) is an extinct genus of prawn, which existed during the Upper Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. It contained three species.

Carpopenaeus callirostris are from the famous Cretaceous aged fossil beds near Ajoula, Lebanon. These fossil deposits were first mentioned by the Greek historian Herodotus where he said there were “fish in the stones”.
